Resident Evil 7 announced, First Screenshots and Trailer

Another Title rumored for some time has now been confirmed as Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 at Sony’s E3 press conference, powered by the all new RE Engine, the game is set to feature photo-realistic graphics with a First Person Viewpoint with the ability to experience it in VR but that is only optional, a first for the Resident Evil franchise.The game takes place in modern day rural America and is set after the events that unfolded in Resident Evil 6. “Resident Evil 7 embodies the series’ signature gameplay elements of exploration and tense atmosphere that first coined “survival horror” some twenty years ago; meanwhile, a complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to the next level. Terrifying fans at events across the globe last year, the PlayStation VR “KITCHEN” tech demo was developed utilizing the RE Engine’s VR oriented tools, and is the foundation on which the talented Resident Evil team has crafted the immersive horror experience in Resident Evil 7. Powered by the RE Engine in tandem with industry leading audio and visual technologies, Resident Evil 7 is poised to deliver a disturbingly realistic experience that will define the next era in horror entertainment.”

Although it would have been nice to see the series go back to its roots and come out with the classic formula of Resident Evil no matter how dated it would have been, The VR element adds a bit of freshness to a series that might have gotten stale over the years plus it gives off the creepy vibes not unlike P.T, the canned horror game which left many gamer’s disheartened.

So to further excite the Resident Evil fan base, a demo exclusive to PS4 is already available on the PlayStation Store for download. You can check out the first trailer below as well as a couple of screenshots.

Resident Evil 7 will release on January 24th 2017 for the PS4,XBOX ONE and PC Platforms and will be fully compatible with the PlayStation VR.
